Each Active Element in the LDAT model framework represents a quantity of waste with a user specified Waste Type. This is then subjected to a variety of landfill processes by the LDAT simulator which transforms the waste into leachate and gas.
Each Boundary Element may be set up to represent conditions applied to the landfill surface, sides and base. These can be simple passive conditions, or conditions that simulate landfill engineering interventions, such as leachate circulation, or treatment by aeration.
LDAT tracks and records the mass of every chemical component in the waste over a period of time and provides a detailed report of the changes that take place in the solid, liquid and gas phases.
